When Jack Henriques immigrated to the United States in his 20s, he carried four generations of Portuguese boatbuilding experience with him. He founded Henriques Yachts in 1977 and quickly launched its first model, the Maine Coaster, a 35-foot Downeast style boat. Thirty years later, the company focuses on the sport-fishing market, producing nine models ranging in size from 28 to 50 feet. The newest model, the 30 Express, debuted at the Atlantic City Boat Show in February 2007. Since the beginning, Henriques has operated as a family business and continues to do so today. Jack Henriques and his son-in-law, production manager Manny Costa, visualize, design and oversee production on all the vessels. “Henriques is customer-driven when it comes to changes in our design,” Costa says. “We respond to our customers and their changing needs. We are also dedicated to maintaining the standard of excellence upon which our company was built.” |
